Men's soccer stunned at home

Saint Vincent scored four unanswered goals to erase a 3-0 deficit en route to stunning Muskingum on Saturday afternoon, 4-3.

The Muskies (4-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 28 minutes of play.

Sophomore Nick Koch put Muskingum up 1-0 in the 15th minute off an assist from junior Brett Hanna. The tally was the second of the year for Koch and the assist was Hanna's team-best fifth.

Senior David Gebhardt made it 2-0 in the 25th minute on a blast off an assist from sophomore Antonio Meehan. The goal was the first of the season for Gebhardt and first assist of the year for Meehan.

Meehan gave the Muskies a 3-0 lead in the 28th minute on a shot following a misplay by the keeper on a free kick. The strike was the first of Meehan's career.

Saint Vincent (3-7) started its comeback in the 39th minute on a goal by Chris Page.

The Bearcats carried the late first-half momentum into the second frame where they scored three goals in a 20-minute span to cap of their comeback.

Kevin Proctor scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute and Kenan Ruffner headed in a long throw in from Proctor in the 78th minute to tie the game. Zachary Kocak completed the scoring with a goal off another long Proctor throw in the 85th minute.

Saint Vincent ended the game with a 23-13 advantage in shots, while Muskingum held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.

Freshman Fabian Defer played all 90 minutes in frame and allowed four goals and made five saves.

Eric Houghton notched the win between the pipes after making four saves and allowing three goals.

Muskingum hits the field next at Defiance on Sunday, September 28. Game time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
