Men's soccer beats Mount St. Joseph

The Muskingum men's soccer team beat Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday evening, 2-1. The win marked the first of Head Coach Chris Limle's tenure at Muskingum.

With the win, Muskingum improves to 1-1 overall. The Muskies next host Thiel on Saturday, September 6. Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Muskie Field. The contest will pit Coach Limle against the Tomcats, whom were coached by Limle last year.

The Muskies grabbed the 1-0 lead in the 31st minute on a goal by sophomore Nick Koch. The tally was set-up by freshman Trent Newby's assist.

The Lions tied the game in the 38th minute on a penalty kick by Randy Stone.

Muskingum junior Brett Hanna notched the game-winning strike in the 64th minute. Freshman Michael Koelbl was credited with the assist.

Muskingum ended the outing with 10 shots and one corner kick. Hanna led the squad with three shots, while Koch added two.

Senior Eric Riley played all 90 minutes in frame and recorded four saves and allowed one goal.

Tyler Schumann led the Lions with three shots and Stone added two.

Jonathan Hurley and Connor Spivey split time between the pipes with each allowing one goal.
