Men's Soccer begins new era

The 2014 season for the Muskingum men's soccer team will usher in a new era under the guidance of new head coach and Muskie alum Chris Limle ('09).

Muskingum returns 10 lettermen to the pitch and five starters from last year's squad. Leading the team will be junior Brett Hanna and sophomores Kyle Baker, Christopher Heine and seniors Eric Riley and Brock Yackey.

Hanna started 16 contests and was a key fixture to the Muskie defensive effort. He also can bolster the Muskie offensive surge by starting the attack from the backline.

Baker finished his rookie campaign with one goal and two assists from a midfield position.

Heine played in all 19 games and added one goal and two assists.

Riley tallied one goal and Yackey saw action in seven games.

Muskingum will also benefit from a strong nucleus of talented returning players including senior Austin Mills, junior Tyler Craft, sophomore William Debolt, sophomore Cameron Golamb, sophomore Nick Koch, sophomore Quenan Martin, sophomore Antonio Meehan, sophomore Bryce Mower, senior Damian Ortiz and sophomore Zach Schmauch.

Adding to the depth and talent of the Muskie squad will be a blue-chip recruiting class.

Muskingum opens the season at home in McConagha Stadium against Spalding on Saturday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. Muskingum's first road game is at Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m.
