Muskies stumble at Heidelberg

Muskingum freshman Christopher Heine scored the lone Muskie tally in a 5-1 loss at Heidelberg on a cold Saturday afternoon.

The Muskies now stand at 5-11-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Muskingum next hosts Capital on Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.

Heine's goal in the 10th minute gave the Muskies a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the first of Heine's career.

Heidelberg (10-5, 4-3) responded to the Muskie early tally by scoring five unanswered goals to close the game.

The 'Berg scored four in the first half and added its final strike in the 60th minute.

Heine led the Muskies with a pair of shots, while junior John Barr, sophomore Brett Hanna, freshman Cody Sprague and freshman Andreas Pfefferkorn each registered one shot.

Freshman keeper Matthias Buchner played the opening 45 minutes in goal and allowed four goals and made three saves. Senior Will Hess played the final 45 minutes in frame and allowed one goal and made four saves.

Nico Samaniego and Christopher Koczak led Heidelberg with a pair of goals each.

Matthew Stevens played the entire game between the pipes and allowed one goal and recorded one save.
