The Muskingum men's lacrosse team put together a dominate performance to defeat OAC-foe Heidelberg 16-2 on Thursday night.

Notables
- With five points against the Student Princes, sophomore Spencer Zecchini now sits five points away from breaking Muskingum's single-season program record of 58 points set by Josh Fletcher '21 during the 2019 season.
- Zecchini also sits at 32 goals on the season which trails Fletcher's program-record of 37 during the 2019 campaign.
- Zecchini has enjoyed a dominate 2022 campaign, breaking Muskingum's single-season program record with 22 assists this year. He has also helped lead the Muskies to the most wins in a single season in program history.
How it Happened
- Behind dominate Muskie defense that didn't allow a Heidelberg goal for the first three quarters of the game, Muskingum jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the first period.
- Muskingum would add another goal in the second quarter to push their lead to 6-0 heading into halftime.
- Out of the break, the Muskies erupted for seven goals in the third period to extend their lead out to 13-0.
- The Muskies wrapped up the contest by outscoring the Student Princes 3-2 in the final quarter to secure their 16-2 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- The Muskies were led by sophomore Spencer Zecchini who tallied five goals on the night. Zecchini also registered two ground balls as well.
- Junior Maxwell Pezzot recorded the hat trick with three goals, while sophomore Grant Webster notched a pair of goals. Webster also added three ground balls and an assist on the night.
- Freshman Drew Schneider tallied a game-high seven ground balls, while senior Luke Swartz and junior Walker Litke both tallied a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Junior Nathan Robey, junior Anthony Mazzagatti, sophomore Jack Watts, freshman Noah Washburn, freshman Alec Terbovich, and freshman Drew Schneider each recorded a goal for the Muskies as well.
- Heidelberg was led by Jason Mills and Alex Bruder who scored one goal each.
- On the game, the Muskies outshot Heidelberg 56-23, while holding a 49-23 edge in ground balls.
- The Muskies were successful in 20-of-24 clear attempts, and also forced 23 Heidelberg turnovers on the night.
