Big 2nd half propels Wilmington past Muskingum

Wilmington outscored the Muskingum men's lacrosse team 6-1 in the second half en route to beating the Muskies 13-7 on Saturday.

Muskingum was led by freshman Zach Kern who recorded a hat trick on six shots. He also added three ground balls and caused one turnover.

Freshman Ian McGougan netted his first career hat trick on seven shots and logged one ground ball.

Junior David DeGood rounded out the Muskie scoring with one goal and three assists.

Senior Brock Yackey notched a team-high six ground balls and freshman Luke Rust had four.

Wilmington (9-5, 1-3) was paced by the duo of Reid Delany and Devon Maki who each tallied three goals.

An evenly played first period saw Wilmington hold a 4-3 lead at the end of the opening 15 minutes. The game remained close in the second period with the Quakers taking a 7-6 lead into the break.

In the second half, Wilmington used a 3-0 edge in the third period and scored the first three goals in the fourth period to pull away from the Muskies.

Muskingum (3-9, 0-4) next hosts Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, April 22. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.
