Capital hands Muskies first OAC home loss

The Muskingum men's lacrosse team suffered its first home Ohio Athletic Conference loss in the friendly confines of McConagha Stadium on Saturday against Capital, 18-5.

Sophomore Andrew Buchbinder and freshman Zach Kern led the Muskies. Buchbinder had two goals and one assist, while Kern recorded two goals and two assists. Freshman Ian McGougan put in the last Muskie goal in the fourth period.

Muskingum recorded 22 shots and claimed 43 ground balls. Freshmen Tucker Haas and Ohlen Rudy led the squad with seven ground balls a piece, while Kern had five.

Sophomore keeper Taylor Masterson played the opening 30 minutes in frame and allowed nine goals and made eight saves. Freshman Phillip Dappen played the final 30 minutes and allowed nine goals and made 12 saves.

Capital (9-2, 2-0 was led by Brennan O'Callaghan who scored six goals and registered two assists. Ted Crites added a hat trick. The Crusaders ended the contest with 47 shots and 51 ground balls.

Muskingum (3-7, 0-2) next plays at home against Mount Union on Wednesday, April 15. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
