Buchbinder leads Men's Lacrosse past Calvin

Muskingum sophomore Andrew Buchbinder amassed five goals and five assists en route to leading the Muskies past Calvin in McConagha Stadium on Saturday, 15-7.

Buchbinder's breakout performance lifted the Muskies to their second straight win and kept Muskingum undefeated at home. He scored a career-high five goals on nine shots and registered a career-best five assists. He also ended the outing with four ground balls.

Freshman Zach Kern added a career-high three goals and three assists on eight shots with two ground balls to help pace the Muskie attack. 

Also scoring the for the Muskies were seniors Joey Alford and Cameron Godfrey, juniors David DeGood and Ben Evick and freshman Tucker Haas.

Alfored had one goal and one assist and Godfrey scored his first career strike. DeGood notched a career-high two goals with one assist and Evick tallied his first goal. Hass registered a career-high two goals.

The Muskies ended the contest with 34 shots and 27 ground balls.

Sophomore Taylor Masterson played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded a career-best 14 saves. 

Calvin (1-2) was paced by Joel Schaefer who had three goals and one assist. 

Nate Ray and Jonathon Vanderlaan also added a pair of goals each for the Knights. Calvin ended the game with 35 shots and 28 ground balls.

Mitchell Alexander took the loss in frame after allowing 15 goals and making eight saves.

Muskingum led 5-3 at the intermission. In the second half, the Muskies erupted for 10 goals to take control of the game.

Muskingum (2-1) next hosts Defiance on Sunday, March 15. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the stadium.
