A three-time finalist for National College Bowling Association Men’s Coach of the Year, David Jones will begin his seventh season with Muskingum University in 2023-24.

Under Coach Jones, the men’s team won the 2023 Collegiate Club National Championship, qualified for the Club Collegiate Championship for the sixth straight year, qualified for the USBC Sectional for the fifth straight year, finished runners up for the OBC Championship, and ended the year ranked 18th in the nation. The Muskies have excelled under Coach Jones' tutelage winning several tournament titles and the 2019-20 and 2021-22 OBC Regular Season Championships as well as the 2020-21 OBC Tournament Runners-up. During the 2021-22 season, his Muskies finished with the program's highest final season ranking of 17th in the country.

Jones, a Seattle, Washington native, grew up in Kansas. Joining the US Army out of high school at the age of 17. During his career, he received numerous commendations and was awarded the Bronze Star for actions in combat during Desert Storm in 1991. His military career officially ended in 2003 achieving the rank of CW2 with tours in Germany (2), Georgia, Kansas, Indiana, and Iraq.

In 2004 a title change to Coach took place. While working with the youth program at Paradise Lanes in Tacoma, WA, he found his true calling.

A move to Ohio in 2006 took Coach Jones to the high school level, spending 11 years as head coach for Tiffin Columbian High School. At Tiffin Columbian, his teams amassed 10 conference championships, 2015-16 NW Ohio District runner-up, and 2015-16 State Qualifier. His bowlers have excelled individually with 2 USBC Youth State All Events champions, USBC Youth Team State Championship, OHSAA NW District Champion, and 3 USBC Youth NW Ohio Regional Championships.

In 2019 Coach Jones became a USBC Silver Coach and is currently pursuing a USBC Gold level.

As a bowler Coach Jones has a high game of 300 (5) and 2 800 series (842). Coach Jones made one television final in 1994 finishing 2nd. He has won numerous tournaments throughout his career, including a runner-up for bowler of the year 1996 Greater Puget Sound and ABT Masters 1996, 2016-17 Fremont Ohio All events Champion, and most recently the 2021 Zanesville USBC Senior Champion.
