Men’s Basketball stumbles vs. #3 Mount Union

The Muskingum men's basketball team fell against third-ranked Mount Union on Wednesday night in the Steele Center.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (1-15 Overall, 1-8 OAC), Mount Union (15-1 Overall, 8-1 OAC)
  • Location: Steele Center – New Concord, Ohio

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by junior Luken Hill with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Senior Noah Begue knocked down two triples and finished with eight points for Muskingum, while freshman Duane Davis added eight points and three rebounds off the bench for the Muskies.
  • Sophomore Ethan Taylor also added eight points off the Muskie bench, while junior Bradley Russell finished with four points and four rebounds.
  • Sophomore Zaveon Croff chipped in four points and five rebounds, while freshman Kaelan Pulliam pulled down four boards for the Muskies.
  • Mount Union was led by Christian Parker with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Darrell Newsom finished with 13 points.
  • As a team, the Muskies shot 23-for-65 (35.4%) from the field, while the Purple Raiders finished 31-for-62 (50%) from the floor.
  • The Muskies finished 3-for-23 (13%) from deep, while Mount Union tallied an 8-for-19 (42.1%) mark from three-point range.
  • Muskingum outrebounded the Purple Raiders 41-38 on the night, but Mount Union finished with a 44-34 edge in points in the paint.
  • Mount Union also held the Muskies scoreless in fast break points, finish with a 14-0 advantage in that department.
  • Muskingum coughed up 18 turnovers which resulted in 22 points for Mount Union, while the Purple Raiders turned the ball over nine times which lead to six points for Muskingum.
