Men’s Basketball earns electrifying win over Wilmington

Behind a raucous crowd inside the Steele Center, the Muskingum men's basketball team picked up an electrifying 69-63 win over OAC-foe Wilmington.

The Basics

  • The win marked Muskingum's first victory of the season, and it also marked Head Coach Nathan Wahle's first victory at the helm of the program.
  • The contest was promoted as a Muskie Pride Game sponsored by Muskingum's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • The Brooke Intermediate Jump Rope team performed at halftime of the contest.
  • Junior Luken Hill posted career-highs in points with 19 and rebounds with 15 to power Muskingum to the victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by junior Luken Hill who turned in a dominating performance over the Quakers. Hill poured in 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Both marks are career-highs for Hill, and he also chipped in two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
  • Freshman Logan Stotzer finished the game with 10 points for Muskingum, while freshman Duane Davis continued his solid play with nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds off the bench for the Muskies.
  • Senior Noah Begue notched eight points, including five clutch free throws down the stretch, to go along with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Sophomore Jayden Humphrey recorded six points, four rebounds, and a team-high three assists for Muskingum; while sophomore DJ Donnell, freshman Kaelan Pulliam, and sophomore Zaveon Croff each chipped in five points each.
  • The Quakers were led by Abdul Kanu with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Andrew Clark added 10 points for Wilmington.
  • As a team, the Muskies shot 22-for-69 (31.9%) from the floor, while Wilmington finished 23-for-64 (35.9%) from the field.
  • The Quakers shot 9-for-29 (31%) from behind the arc, while Muskingum went 9-for-27 (33.3%) from three-point-range.
  • Muskingum finished with a slight 48-47 lead in rebounds on the night, while Wilmington finished with a 28-22 edge in points in the paint.
  • Muskingum forced 16 Quaker turnovers on the night and converted them into 12 points, while Wilmington forced 11 turnovers and turned them into 11 points.
  • Muskingum held the largest lead of the night at 11, while Wilmington's largest lead was three.
  • Muskingum saw their bench contribute 24 points on the night, compared to 18 points from the Quaker's second unit.
  • The Muskies finished with a 19-12 advantage in second chance points as well.
