Dempsey named OAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Muskingum sophomore Marcus Dempsey has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding play during the week of January 22-28.

Dempsey became the 32nd Muskingum men's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points with a 39-point effort in the Muskies 112-103 victory against John Carroll on Saturday. He achieved this milestone in his 46th career game, while averaging 22.0 points per game. Marcus also broke the most points scored in a season record in the second half of the John Carroll game. The previous record was 559 points set in 1990-1991 by Andy Moore. After Saturday's performance, he has tallied 570 points this season.

Last Wednesday at Capital, Dempsey exploded with 36 points on 11-of-18 shooting, which included 6-of-9 from the arc. He also added a team-best seven rebounds.

Dempsey scored 75 total points on 59.5% shooting from the field (22-of-37), while adding 19 rebounds and five assists in two games last week.
