Baldwin Wallace outlasts Men’s Basketball

The Muskingum men's basketball team was defeated, 99-70, at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday evening.

Inside the Numbers  

  • Marcus Dempsey led the Muskies with 27 points on 12-of-23 shooting, while adding four assists and three rebounds.
  • Rashay Douglas, Devon Peart, and Jalen Paige each netted eight points, while Paige added five rebounds.
  • Tyler Bardall chipped in seven points.
  • Aaron Gehlken grabbed five rebounds.
  • Muskingum shot .422 (27-of-64) from the field, made seven three-pointers, and went 9-for-13 at the free throw line (.800).
  • Baldwin Wallace's Cam Kuhn erupted for 37 points and eight rebounds to pace the Yellow Jackets offense.  
  • Jay Battle tallied 14 points, while Jake Fetherolf scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
  • Baldwin Wallace ended the contest shooting .527 (39-of-74) from the field and went 17-of-32 (.531) from the arc.

Game Highlights

The Muskies were down 18-6 with 15:23 to go in the first half. Muskingum then gathered two made free throws by Paige and a layup from Dempsey to get within eight, 18-10, with 14:21 on the clock. Baldwin Wallace's offense took off from there as they knocked down seven three-pointers, 11 total in the frame, and closed out the first half on a 25-15 run to take the 52-33 lead at intermission.

The Muskies second half started on an 8-2 run with Douglas knocking down the first five points, followed by a trey from Paige to cut the Yellow Jackets lead to 13, 54-41. However, the Yellow Jackets offense took control and held a double-digit lead the remainder of the contest. Baldwin Wallace shot .514 from the field in the second half en route to securing the victory.
