Muskingum's magical OAC Tournament run ends at Final Four

The Muskingum men's basketball team saw its magical postseason run end at Baldwin Wallace on Thursday night, 95-78. The game marked Muskingum's first OAC Tournament Final Four appearance since the 2008-09 campaign.

The Basics

Game Notes

  • The first half featured two hot-shooting teams with Muskingum connecting on 18-of-31 (.581) from the field, while Baldwin Wallace made 21-of-35 (.600).
  • The Muskies grabbed the first momentum shift of the game after sophomore Davon Peart's basket gave Muskingum a 28-20 lead with 11:00 minutes left in the half.
  • Baldwin Wallace answered the Muskie surge with a 13-5 run over the next five minutes to tie the game at 33-33.
  • The Yellow Jackets outscored the Muskies 15-9 to end the half and take a 48-42 lead into the break.
  • In the second half, Baldwin Wallace hit several timely three-point shots and was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line to grow its lead.
  • The Muskies kept battling and sophomore Jarrell Marsh's layup with 16:40 trimmed the Muskies' deficit to 57-51.
  • Baldwin Wallace then used a 7-0 spurt to take a 64-51 lead with 14:04 on the clock.
  • Muskingum did not get any closer than nine the rest of the way as Baldwin Wallace slowly added to its advantage.
  • Muskingum shot 11-of-31 (.355) in the final half, and Baldwin Wallace ended the final frame hitting 14-of-29 (.483).

Inside The Numbers

  • Senior Joshua Keyes led the Muskie effort with a 20-point, 11-rebound effort. The double-double was the 24th of his career. Keyes ends his tenure with 868 career points and 725 rebounds. He's holds the Muskingum career blocks record (143), single-season blocks record (61), single game blocks record (6) and career rebounds record (725).
  • Senior Joshua Glass scored a season-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, which included hitting 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
  • Marsh added 13 points and five rebounds.
  • Freshman Marcus Dempsey chipped in 12 points and four rebounds.
  • As a team, Muskingum registered 31 rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led by Cam Kuhn who scored a game-high 26 points.
  • Jay Battle added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, while Mike Kaminski had 17 points.
  • The Yellow Jackets ended the outing with 35 boards, 15 assists, six steals and two blocks.
