Freshman Marcus Dempsey's career day leads Muskies past Wash. & Jeff.

Freshman Marcus Dempsey's career day helped the Muskies notch their third season win against Washington and Jefferson on Saturday afternoon at the Henry Memorial Center.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (3-0 overall), Washington & Jefferson (0-5 overall).
  • Location: Washington, Pa. - Henry Memorial Center

First Half

  • The Muskies used a 7-0 run capped off by a three-pointer from junior Jacob Geller to take the 24-20 advantage with 11:40 to play in the first-half.
  • Wash. & Jeff. knotted the score at 31-31 with 7:35 to play following back-to-back three-pointers.
  • Muskingum went on to out score Wash. & Jeff. 13-5 in the final five minutes to take the 48-38 lead at the break.
  • Sophomore Devon Peart, freshman Marcus Dempsey, and senior Joshua Keyes led the Muskies in the first-half with 10 points each.
  • Muskingum shot 19-for-31 (.613) from the field and 7-for-14 (.500) from three-point land.
  • The Presidents were led by Brian Lindquist and Brian Graytok with nine points each.
  • Wash. & Jeff. shot 14-for-27 (.519) from the field.

Second Half

  • The Muskies largest lead, 61-46, came in the second-half with 13:37 to play following a layup by Peart.
  • The Presidents cut the deficit to 73-71 with 5:16 to play after Christian Rohaus connected for two.
  • The Muskies deemed to much as Dempsey went on to score 11 second-half points to lead Muskingum to the 86-77 victory.
  • Muskingum connected on 13-for-22 (.591) from the field.
  • Wash. & Jeff. were led by Graytok with 21 points.
  • The Presidents shot 5-for-5 from the free throw line and 16-for-29 (.552) from the field.

Post Game

  • Muskingum finished with four student-athletes in double digits.
  • Keyes led the way with his second double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
  • Dempsey finished with a team-high 21 points, while Marsh registered 13 points and Peart chipped in 12 points.
  • Muskingum finished the contest shooting 32-for-53 (.604) from the field and 9-for-20 (.450) from behind the arc.
  • The Presidents were led by Graytok with a game-high 30 points and five rebounds.
  • Wash. & Jeff. shot 10-for-14 (.714) from the free throw line and 30-for-56 (.536) from the field.
