Balanced attack helps Muskies grab third win

A balanced attack by Muskingum helped the Muskies notch their third win of the season against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon in the Recreation Center.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (3-2 overall), Wash. & Jeff.  (0-5 overall)
  • Location: New Concord, Ohio - Recreation Center

First Half

  • During the first five minutes of play the Muskies and Presidents battled back and forth for the lead.
  • A three-pointer by sophomore Jacob Geller at the 14:33 mark helped jump start the Muskies.
  • Muskingum led the Presidents 43-18 at the half.
  • Geller led the Muskies with 10 points and five rebounds.
  • Juniors Malik Billingsley, Joshua Keyes, and Brenden Mathews, and freshman Jalen Paige added six points each.
  • Muskingum shot .500 (15-of-30) from the floor.
  • Wash. & Jeff. was led by Christian Rohaus with five points.
  • The Presidents connected on 6-of-28 (.214) from the field.

Second Half

  • Muskingum continued to dominate the court well into the second half.
  • The Muskies took a 59-26 lead off a layup by junior Rickey Wilson at the 14:41 mark.
  • Muskingum grabbed its largest lead of the game, 78-41, off a layup by junior Robbie Hisey with 6:36 left to play.
  • Junior Joshua Glass led the Muskies in the second half with eight points.
  • Muskingum connected on 17-of-38 (.447) from the field and 3-of-4 (.750) from the free throw line.
  • Gianni Buarne led the Presidents with 11 points.
  • The Bison shot .538 (14-26) from the field.

Post Game

  • Muskingum was led by Geller with 12 points and seven rebounds.
  • Paige and Glass each scored 11 points.
  • Keyes logged 10 points and seven rebounds.
  • The Muskies had four players end in double digits.
  • Muskingum shot 32-of-68 (.471) from the field and .706 (12-17) from the free throw line.
  • The Presidents were led by Buarne with 15 points and five rebounds.
  • Wash. & Jeff. shot 20-of-54 (.370) from the field and made 8-of-14 (.571) free throws.
