Kimble inches closer to 1,000 career points

Muskingum senior Logan Kimble scored a team-best 17 points at Mount Union on Wednesday night to raise his career point total to 990. He is just 10 points shy of becoming the 30th Muskie to score 1,000 career points.

Kimble will have the opportunity to join the exclusive 1,000-career-point club when the Muskies host Heidelberg for a key Ohio Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, February 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the Recreation Center.

On Wednesday evening, Muskingum fell to the Purple Raiders 85-67.

Kimble led the team in scoring and also added four steals and three rebounds.

Sophomore Joshua Keyes had 12 points and six rebounds, while junior Cody Seiler had eight points and five rebounds.

The Muskies ended the game shooting .426 (23-of-54).

Mount Union was paced by Nate Jacubec who scored a game-high 19 points with eight rebounds. Jarrett Ruffin scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds and Stevie Griffin chipped in 14 points and three rebounds.

The Purple Raiders shot .474 (27-of-57) from the field and ended the game with a 31-11 advantage in points off of turnovers.

Mount Union hit back-to-back three-point shots to end the first half to take a 33-24 lead into the intermission.

The Purple Raiders extended their margin to 45-28 through the first four minutes of the second half. Mount Union led by as many as 24 to secure the home win.
