Men's Basketball grabs huge win againt Otterbein

The Muskingum men's basketball team secure a huge home win against Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein on Saturday, 70-54.

Senior Logan Kimble led the Muskies with a game-high 17 points with five steals, four rebounds and two assists. Kimble has scored 973 points during his Muskie tenure. He is just 27 points shy of becoming the 30th Muskie to score 1,000 career points.

Junior Cody Seiler adds 14 points and five boards and sophomore Malik Billingsley chipped in 11 points and four rebounds.

Sophomore Joshua Keyes contributed six points and two rebounds, steals, assists and blocks.

Muskingum (6-13, 3-9) shot .480 (24-of-50) from the field and ended the game with 12 assists.

Otterbein (3-16, 2-10) was paced by Matt Hughes with 12 points and by Jake Phillis who added 10 points.

The Cardinals ended the game shooting .389 (21-of-54) from the floor, which included being held to just a .259 shooting percentage in the second half.

The first half was a tightly played contest that saw the Muskies take a 37-36 lead into the break.

In the second half, Otterbein took its largest lead of the game at 42-38 with 15:19 on the clock. The Muskies answered the Cardinal challenge and went on a 20-5 surge over the next eight minutes to take a 58-47 lead.

Muskingum increased its lead to as many as 18 in the waning seconds of the game.

Muskingum next travels to Mount Union on Wednesday, February 4. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
