Muskingum routs Franciscan

The Muskingum men's basketball team routed Franciscan on Thursday afternoon, 83-48.

Sophomore Christian Keller led the team effort with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Senior Dave Brown added 17 points, while junior Logan Kimble registered a 10-point, six-rebound, four-assist performance.

Sophomore Cody Seiler had six boards and four points and senior Clay Owings added a seven-rebound, four-point, three-assist night.

Every player on Muskingum's 18-man roster saw a minimum of five minutes of action. Muskingum ended the game shooting .437 (31-of-71) from the field and held a decisive 57-28 advantage in rebounds. The Muskies also recorded 20 assists for the second straight game.

Franciscan (2-6) was led by Timmy Schenk who scored 17 points. Justin Hortsman added 10 markers.

The Barons shot .309 (17-of-55) from the floor.

Muskingum took control of the game from the opening tip. The Muskies raced out to a 17-4 lead through the opening six minutes of play en route to taking a 43-26 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Muskies quickly pushed their lead to 52-29 in the opening two minutes of play. Muskingum continued to add to its lead throughout the remainder of the contest en route to its final 35-point win.

Muskingum (5-4) next hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival John Carroll on Saturday, January 4. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
