Cardinals fly past Muskies

The Muskingum men's basketball team fell at home against Otterbein on Saturday afternoon, 75-64.

Junior Logan Kimble led the Muskies with 16 points. He also added five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Sophomore Christian Keller had 15 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Cody Seiler narrowly missed a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Senior Dave Brown entered the game just three free throws shy of the Muskingum consecutive free throw record of 38 set by Zach Ross during the 2003-04 campaign. Brown made his first two free throws in the opening half, but missed his third attempt in the second half.

Muskingum connected on 19-of-54 (.352) from the field and was haunted by a 1-of-14 performance from behind the arc and 14 turnovers.

Jake Bischoff led a quad of Cardinals in double digits with 20 points. Grant Fenner logged a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

Otterbein (2-5, 1-1) ended the outing shooting .375 (21-of-56) from the floor.

An evenly played first half saw Otterbein take a 26-25 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Muskies led 51-46 at the 10-minute mark after an alley-oop dunk by Kimble sent the Recreation Center into a screaming frenzy. Otterbein quickly answered with back-to-back three-point shots to take a 52-51 lead. The game remained a one possession contest until Otterbein took a 65-60 edge on a basket with 2:28 to play. The Cardinals made eight straight free throws in the final two minutes to break open the tight contest.

Muskingum (3-2, 0-2) next travels to Ohio Northern on Saturday, December 14. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
