Muskingum football caps off record-breaking year

Under the leadership of Head Coach Erik Ieuter, the Muskingum football program set numerous school records this season behind outstanding performances from senior wide receiver Zuri Edmondson, senior quarterback Doug Crawford, senior wide receiver Ja'Lin Goodman, and senior kicker Hunter Albers.

Edmondson, a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, ended his career as the school record holder in career receiving yards (2,517), career receptions (167), receiving yards in a game (266), receptions in a game (17), receptions in a season (57), and tied the school mark for touchdowns receptions in a game (3) and career touchdown receptions (20). Touchdown receptions in a game are also held by James Washington (2012), Jeremy Abney (2000), and Darrell Hazell (1983). Career touchdown receptions are also held by Terry Kelly (1975-78).

Crawford, recently named Team MVP, set the school record for passing yards (511) and total offense in a game (576) to lead the Muskies to a thrilling Senior Day win against Wilmington. He capped off his final year, setting the school record for total offense in a season with 2,639 yards (2,280 passing/352 rushing/7 receiving), and his 2,280 yards passing ranks second in school history. 

Goodman, A First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, tied the school record for longest kickoff return for a touchdown with his highlight reel 98-yard score against Ohio Northern. He tied the record set by Jeremy Abney in 2000 against Captial. Goodman ended his career ranked second in career return yards with 1,393, second in a season with 751, and sixth in career receiving yards with 1,655. 

Albers tied the school record for extra points made in a game with eight. He tied the mark held by Kevin Smith set in 1999 against Hiram.

As a team, Muskingum set the school record for first downs in a game with 37 against Wilmington. The previous record was 34, established in 1999 against Hiram. Muskingum narrowly missed the school record for total offense in a game with its 679-yard outburst against Wilmington. The school record of 693 was set in 1957 against Marietta. Muskingum's 64 points against the Quakers were the most in a game since 1960 when Muskingum beat Waynesburg 66-7.
