Seven Muskies earn Football All-OAC accolades

The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that seven Muskingum football players were named All-OAC honorees following their outstanding 2023 season. Headlining the honorees were senior wide receiver Zuri Edmondson, sophomore linebacker Conner Gurney, and senior wide receiver Ja'Lin Goodman, who were all named All-OAC First Team. Senior tight end Gannon Unger and senior offensive lineman Kamari Hill each earned All-OAC Second Team honors, and junior defensive lineman Toleo Malone and junior linebacker Austin Willforth were named All-OAC Honorable Mention.

Edmondson led the Muskies with 776 yards receiving on 46 catches with five touchdowns. He ended his career as the school record holder in career receiving yards (2,517), career receptions (167), receiving yards in a game (266), receptions in a game (17), receptions in a season (57), and tied the school mark for touchdowns receptions in a game (3) and career touchdown receptions (20).

Gurney led the team with 73 tackles, including 46 solo stops. He also recorded 12 tackles for loss for 40 yards and two sacks. 

Goodman tied the school record for longest kickoff return for a touchdown with his highlight reel 98-yard score against Ohio Northern. For the season, Goodman averaged 25.9 yards per return and hauled in 38 receptions for 481 yards and seven scores. He ended his career ranked second in career return yards with 1,393, second in a season with 751, and sixth in career receiving yards with 1,655. 

Unger hauled in 38 receptions for 317 yards and two scores. Unger had 79 receptions for 665 yards with five touchdowns for his career.

Hill anchored the line and helped the Muskies lead the Ohio Athletic Conference in time of possession and paved the way for the offense to average 26.3 points and 365.7 yards per game. 

Malone was third on the team with 59 tackles and had a team-high 14 tackles for loss for 72 yards and four sacks. Malone will enter his senior campaign with 122 career tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks.

Willforth was second on the squad with 65 tackles, with three tackles for loss for 10 yards and two sacks. Willforth will enter next season with 200 career tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.
