Crawford, Edmondson, Roberson, and Willforth named Football captains

Muskingum football Head Coach Erik Ieuter has announced the selection of the captains for the 2023 season. Senior quarterback Doug Crawford, senior wide receiver Zuri Edmondson, senior wide receiver Travis Roberson, and junior linebacker Austin Willforth will lead Muskingum this season.

Crawford takes over control of the offense during his final campaign. Throughout his career, Crawford has played in 19 games. 

Edmondson was a First Team All-OAC honoree last season and holds several Muskingum records, including receptions in a game (17), receptions in a season (57), and touchdown receptions in a game. This marks the second straight year Edmondson has been named captain.

Roberson has played in 23 games and recorded 79 receptions for 932 yards and seven touchdowns.

Willforth was a Second Team All-OAC selection last year and finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference and 22nd in NCAA Division III in tackles with 103. He also led the Muskies with 9.5 tackles for loss for 24 yards and was tied for the lead in sacks with 2.5. This marks the second straight year Edmondson has been named captain.

The Muskies open their season on Saturday, September 2, when they host Ferrum for a nonconference matchup. The Community Day game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex and features free admission for fans. The contest will be streamed live on the Muskie Sports Network and on OAC TV.
