Brown, McGinnis, Garrett and Horvath named Football captains

Muskingum head football coach Erik Ieuter has announced the selection of the captains for the 2021 season. Senior defensive back Brian Brown, senior defensive back Cortez McGinnis, senior quarterback Jordan Garrett, and senior offensive lineman Iggy Horvath will lead the Muskies.

Brown, a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, led the Muskie defense last spring with a team-high three interceptions and was second in tackles with 28. His three-interception performance in the OAC Crossover Divisional Game at Otterbein is tied for second all-time at Muskingum for interceptions in a game. He also is tied for eighth all-time in career interceptions with 13. T

Garrett led the Muskie offense in the spring, going 64-of-110 with 686 yards passing and four touchdowns. He averaged 228.7 passing yards per game. Garrett also added 72 yards rushing on 30 carries and hauled in one reception for a 22-yard touchdown. Garrett has played in 19 games throughout his tenure and thrown for 1,337 yards and 11 touchdowns and added 304 yards rushing and one score.

McGinnis, an All-OAC honoree, has played in 23 games and registered 85 stops with 10 pass breakups and two interceptions.

Horvath anchors the offensive line and has played in 22 games. His efforts have helped lead the Muskingum offense.   

Muskingum opens the season against Waynesburg on Saturday, September 4, at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at Zanesville High School and will feature live stats and video on fightingmuskies.com and through the OAC TV app.
