#WinsDay celebrating Muskingum's big wins throughout the 2019-20 year

#WinsDay kicks off highlighting the Muskingum football team's historic performance against Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington on September 28. The Muskies erupted for 520 yards of offense en route to a convincing 38-21 win against the Quakers in McConagha Stadium.

Muskingum's 520 yards of offense were the most since 1999 against Hiram. Additionally, Muskingum's 359 yards rushing were the most since 2014 against Capital. The offensive onslaught propelled the Muskies to a dominating 41:08-18:52 time of advantage and helped Muskingum win its 11th straight game against Wilmington. 

Senior captain running back Bernard Johnson paced the ground game with a career-high 172 yards rushing on 21 carries with two touchdowns. He averaged 8.2 yards per carry and had a long touchdown run of 54 yards. The OAC recognized Johnson's outstanding performance by naming him the OAC Offensive Player of the Week, and he was honored on the national level by being named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week.

Freshman running back Jeffrey Curtis also aided the ground attack with a career-best 133 yards rushing on 19 totes with two touchdowns. He averaged seven yards per tote.

Junior captain quarterback Brody Hahn was nearly perfect on the day completing 10-of-11 passes for 161 yards with one score. He also added 39 yards rushing with one score. 

Senior wide receiver Darius Hayes-Carruth led the receivers with three grabs for 60 yards with one touchdown. 

The Muskingum defense was led by junior defensive lineman Drew Lowery who had seven stops. Junior defensive lineman Chris Shakespeare had six hits, and senior linebacker Caleb Gaiters made five tackles. Senior captain defensive lineman Tim Ousley recorded four stops and one sack.

  • In between the first and second quarters, Muskingum recognized the 2018 and 2019 Teammates of the Year for the Athletic Department - Professor of History Dr. Laura Hilton, Bill and Martha Lovejoy Professor of Biology Dr. Jim Dooley, Director of Student Financial Services Amber Gump, Grounds Supervisor John Bugglin, Associate Professor of Health Science and Dean of Student Educational Services Dr. Shelley Amstutz-Szalay, Director of Admission Marcy Ritzert, and Assistant Director of CNS for Telecommunications John Miller.
