Football hosts Baldwin Wallace for Homecoming

The Muskingum football team hosts Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace for Homecoming on Saturday. Kickoff of Muskingum's 98th Homecoming contest is slated for 2:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.

The Muskies enter the game at 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the league. Muskingum is averaging 362.8 yards and 22.8 points per outing. The Muskies are controlling the ball for 32:39 per game and averaging 22.2 first downs per contest. The offensive attack is led by junior quarterback captain Brody Hahn. Throughout his tenure, Hahn has thrown for 4,202 yards and 25 touchdowns. He's also added 1,204 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. His 5,406 yards of total offense ranks second all-time at Muskingum. Senior running back captain Bernard Johnson has rushed for a career total 897 yards and is just 103 yards shy of eclipsing 1,000 yards. This season, Johnson is averaging 76.2 yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry. Senior wideout Darius Hayes-Carruth leads the team with 204 receiving yards on 13 grabs with two scores. For this career, Hayes-Carruth has 1,130 receiving yards and is just 28 yards shy of 10th place all-time at Muskingum. Also aiding the offense is sophomore receiver Patrick Eanes who has hauled in nine grabs for 152 yards and two touchdowns. 

Defensively, the Muskies are allowing 358.6 yards and 28.4 points per game. Senior defensive lineman captain Tim Ousley anchors the line and ranks first all-time in career sacks with 23. Ousley has recorded 215 career stops and is 24 tackles away from 14th place all-time at Muskingum. Junior linebacker Nehemiah Bowie leads the team with 36 stops, while junior defensive back Brian Brown has logged 32 hits, and senior linebacker Caleb Gaiters has registered 29 tackles. As a unit, the Muskies have racked up 10 sacks for 58 yards, four interceptions for 93 yards, and blocked two kicks.

Sophomore kicker Gavin Costello leads the Muskie special team play with a perfect 6-for-6 mark in field goals. Costello has connected from 25, 28, 29, 30, 38, and 41 yards. He's also 12-of-13 in extra-point attempts and is averaging 52 yards per kickoff. 

Baldwin Wallace arrives in New Concord at 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 386.6 yards and 30.8 points per game. Directing the offense is freshman quarterback Kegan Armitage who has thrown for 539 yards and seven touchdowns. Sophomore running back John Murray Jr. leads the ground game with 379 yards and three touchdowns, while freshman running back Shaun Perry has grinded out 181 yards and two scores. Junior receiver Iyan Mitchell and senior receiver Darion Greer pace the Yellow Jackets averaging 79.2 yards and 41.6 yards per game, respectively. 

The Yellow Jacket defense is allowing 352.8 yards and 25.4 yards per game. Senior linebacker Josh Liberati has a team-best 42 tackles, while senior defensive back Jordyn Johnson has 37 stops and six pass breakups. Junior defensive lineman Taino Arocho has a team-high 3.5 sacks for 18 yards. Overall, Baldwin Wallace has registered 14 sacks for 87 yards and seven interceptions for 177 yards. 

Special Recognition

At halftime, Muskingum will recognize the 1979 OAC Championship wrestling team, the 1989 OAC Championship women's basketball team, and the 1999 OAC Championship volleyball team.

GameDay Information

The Touchdown Tent, which is located behind the east end zone, provides field-level viewing, snacks, and drinks to members who join the Muskie Athletic Club at the MVP level and above. Access to the Touchdown Tent is reserved for members 21 and over.

Muskingum's M Zone student section is located in the middle-lower part of the stands at McConagha Stadium. Seating is reserved for Muskie students. 

The Muskie Tailgate area for parents, alumni, and fans is located in the Stag/Ulster parking lot and features Muskingum's student radio station WMCO 90.7 FM. WMCO's entertainment will start at 11:00 a.m., and move to a live broadcast from 12:00-1:30 p.m. that will feature interviews with Muskingum administrators, coaches, and student-athletes. The visiting tailgate area is located in the Cambridge parking lot. The Memorial/Moore parking lot located behind McConagha Stadium is reserved for Muskingum residential student parking only.
