Baseball competes against #3 Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum baseball team competed against the #3 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Sunday afternoon. The Muskies dropped game one 9-3, and slipped in game two 13-5.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (15-12 overall, 6-4 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (24-4 overall, 9-1 OAC)
  • Location: Mose Morehead Field - New Concord, Ohio

Game 1

  • The Muskies scored three runs on seven hits with three errors.
  • Junior Weston Melick notched two hits to lead the Muskie bats. Melick also added in a scored run.
  • Junior Tobie Teke, senior Gavin Hawk, senior Peyton Carr, senior Wyatt Reeder, and freshman Grant Mellerson each had one hit in the contest.
  • Hawk and sophomore Louie Hess each had an RBI.
  • Senior Erik Cover went six innings on the mound while striking out three batters.
  • Senior Jaxon Rinkes finished the last three innings while only allowing two hits.
  • Vince Dolcemaschio dealed all nine innings on the mound for the Yellow Jackets. He was responsible for eight strike outs in the game.
  • Baldwin Wallace had five batters record two hits.

Game 2

  • Muskingum earned five runs on seven hits with three errors.
  • Teke led the Muskies with three hits, two RBI's, while scoring two runs. Teke also earned a walk in one of his plate appearances. 
  • Senior Ryan Schwartz added three hits for the Muskies to help fuel the offense. 
  • Freshman Aiden Reis logged one hit and an RBI. 
  • Freshman Shoei Yamashita got the start for the Muskies on the mound. He went four innings while recording two strikeouts.
  • Five Muskies came in for relief in the game. This group included freshman Gavin Schultz, freshman Luke Spencer, sophomore, Jake Roshau, sophomore Max Vosters, and sophomore Nathan Johnson

  • Muskingum will be on the road for their next matchup against Marietta. The Muskies will travel to face the Pioneers on Wednesday, April 17, with the doubleheader set to start at 4:00 p.m.
