Five Baseball Student-Athletes earn CSC Academic All-District Team honors

Baseball junior Wyatt Reeder, junior Liam Carey, sophomore Weston Melick, sophomore Travis Reynolds, and sophomore Brock Pfister have been named to the CSC Academic All-District team for their excellent efforts on the field and in the classroom this year.

Reeder, a Biology major, appeared in 39 of Muskingum's 40 games this season. He tallied career-highs in hits (33), runs scored (28), doubles (6), batting average (.266), on-base percentage (.371), and slugging percentage (.339). Reeder also tallied a career and team-high 32 stolen bases this year which ranks second in program history for a single season. Reeder also finished the year with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the Muskies as well.

Carey, an Exercise Science major, appeared in 10 games for the Muskies and tossed 11 innings this season. Carey finished with a record of 2-0 on the mound, and his 7.39 strikeouts per nine innings average was the third highest on the team.

Melick, a history major, cemented himself in the Muskingum record books with a program record 23 doubles on the year. Melick also tallied career-highs in batting average (.395), on-base percentage (.463), slugging percentage (.586), RBI (45), hits (63), runs scored (39), stolen bases (11), and extra-base hits (26). Melick's 63 hits is tied for sixth most in a season in program history, and his 45 RBI ranked fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Reynolds, a Business Management major, capped off a sophomore season that saw him tally career-high numbers in hits (18), runs scored (17), RBI (11), stolen bases (5), and batting average (.217). Reynolds tallied 19 total bases this season and boasted a .923 fielding percentage at second base.

Pfister, an Accounting major, appeared in 11 games out of the bullpen for Muskingum. Pfister tossed 12.1 total innings this season, and he finished with an ERA of 4.38 as well. Pfister finished with a record of 1-0 and he tallied one save as well.

Muskingum finishes the 2023 campaign with a record of 22-18, the first time the program eclipsed 20 wins in a single season since 2010. As a result of their All-District nominations, all five Muskies will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America Team will be announced in June.
