Baseball drops OAC doubleheader at #4 Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum baseball team fell in OAC action to fourth-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (14-11 Overall, 4-6 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (22-5 Overall, 8-2 OAC)
  • Location: Fisher Field – Berea, Ohio

Game One

The Difference

  • Muskingum tallied their first run of the contest in the third inning off an RBI single from freshman Sam Palmieri. Palmieri's base knock scored junior Wyatt Reeder.
  • Sophomore Weston Melick got the Muskies on the board again in the fifth inning off an RBI double to left center field. Melick's double brought home Palmieri.
  • The Muskies tallied their last run of the game in the sixth when sophomore Austin Lippolis ripped an RBI single through the left side to score sophomore Tobie Teke

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum was led by freshman Sam Palmieri who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
  • Sophomore Austin Lippolis also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while sophomore Weston Melick finished 1-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Sophomore Tobie Teke finished with a 1-for-3 line with a run scored, while junior Wyatt Reeder also tallied a run in game one as well.
  • Senior Alex Santacroce delivered a pinch hit single for the Muskies, while junior Gavin Hawk and junior Ryan Schwartz both finished with one hit as well.
  • Freshman Jake Roshau got the start on the mound for Muskingum. Roshau tossed four innings and gave up seven earned runs.
  • Senior Clark Jennings threw four innings in relief, giving up one earned run and striking out three batters.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led by Alexia Castillo who went 1-for-4 with four RBI.

The Difference

  • Muskingum scored their first run of game two in the fifth inning when junior Wyatt Reeder reached home on a wild pitch.
  • Muskingum scored their final run of the contest in the ninth inning when Reeder tallied an RBI groundout to score sophomore Tobie Teke.

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore Tobie Teke led the way for Muskingum with a 2-for-3 line and a run scored.
  • Junior Wyatt Reeder registered an RBI and a run scored, while freshman Sam Palmieri finished 1-for-4 with a single.
  • Sophomore Austin Lippolis started on the mound for Muskingum. Lippolis tossed two innings and gave up five earned runs.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led by Luke Vonderhaar who finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
