The Zanesville Junior Pioneers, led by 10 Muskingum baseball student-athletes, captured its first-ever All-American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA) World Series title on Saturday after beating Johnstown (Pa.) in the championship game, 8-2.

Matt Lynn, Dallas Allen, Michael Pagano, A.J. Kazmierczak, Joe Shumar, Ben Van Wey, Vayden Wood, Brandon Bush, Austin DeVore and Dillon McDermott helped power the Junior Pioneers to the title in the 16-team field. 

The championship bracket run included wins against perennial powers New Orleans and Chicago Metro.

Muskingum opens its season at the RussMatt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
