Baseball notches twinbill sweep at Ohio Christian

The Muskingum baseball team swept Ohio Christian on Wednesday afternoon. The Muskies won the opener 12-2 and won the nightcap, 6-1.

In the opener, sophomore Austin DeVore went 2-for-3 with one double, three RBIs and two runs. Sophomore Adam Madias went 2-for-4 with one double, three RBIs and one run scored. 

Junior Brett Robberts went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

The Muskies recorded 11 hits and 10 RBIs.

Junior Christian Hertrick came down with the win after pitching four innings giving up no runs and four hits.

In the nightcap, freshman Vayden Wood led the Muskies going 4-for-4 with one double and two runs.

Sophomores Joe Shumar and A.J. Kazmierczak both went 2-for-3 and recorded one double.

Freshman Jarin McIntosh recorded his second win of the season pitching four innings for the Muskies. McIntosh recorded three strikeouts and allowed one earned run on three hits.

Freshman Kyle Schmitgen earned his first save of the season pitching three innings and only giving up one hit with one strikeout.

With the sweep, Muskingum moves to 5-7 overall on the year. The Muskies next open Ohio Athletic Conference play at Capital on Saturday, March 21. Game one of the scheduled doubleheader is slated for 1:00 p.m.
