Muskies win five-set thriller vs. #20 Otterbein on Senior Day

The Muskingum volleyball team celebrated senior day in style with a thrilling five-set victory over20th-ranked Otterbein.


The Basics
• Records: Muskingum (14-9, 5-2), Otterbein (20-3, 6-1)

Game Notes
• With the victory, Muskingum snapped Otterbein's 19-game win streak.
• Muskingum now sits one-game back of first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings. The Muskies are 5-2 in the league, while Otterbein, Ohio Northern, and Mount Union are all 6-1. There are two games left in the regular season.
• Prior to the match, Muskingum honored Katie Golden for senior day.
• Muskingum also honored fifth-year seniors Brooke Bigrigg, Erin Dickson, and Maddie McGee before the match.


How it Happened
• Out of the gates, Muskingum used a hot start to capture a 15-10 lead early on. However, Otterbein was able to go on a 12-7 run and draw the score even at 22 apiece.
• Riding their momentum, Otterbein captured the first frame, 25-22.
• In set two, Muskingum battled back and was able to play with the lead for most of the frame. The Muskies never looked back, and were able to take set two 25-21.
• In set three, Otterbein grabbed an early 4-0 lead to regain the momentum. Muskingum was able to eventually tie the score again at 13, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals took the third frame, 25-20.
• Set four saw a flip of the script as Muskingum dominated much of the frame. Never trailing in the set, Muskingum cruised to a 25-15 victory.
• In the fifth and final set, the Muskies were able to ride their momentum and capture an 8-6 lead. Muskingum proceeded to go on a 7-0 run and claim the fifth set 15-6.


Inside the Numbers
• The Muskies were led by senior Brooke Bigrigg with 23 kills and 20 digs.
• Junior Emma Dunham added 11 kills for the Muskies, and she also registered four blocks.
• Sophomore-duo Lexie Huck and Khloe Taylor each chipped in seven kills for Muskingum.
• Senior Erin Dickson added five kills and also recorded a team-high 27 assists.
• Junior Emma Conrad dished out 17 assists for the Muskies, will freshman Kylie DeLuca tallied 20 digs.
• Sophomore Reagan Flood notched a game-high six blocks for Muskingum.
• The Cardinals were led by Morgan Hartman with 17 kills.
• Carlie Craycraft totaled 53 assists for Otterbein, and Bridget Oder tallied 27 kills.
• Muskingum tallied 56 kills, 50 assists, 81 digs, 16 blocks, and four service aces.
• Otterbein totaled 58 kills, 57 assists, 90 digs, seven blocks, and three service aces.
