The Muskingum women's basketball team defeated Capital on Wednesday evening, 68-59. The Muskies improve to a 5-3 overall record and a 1-1 Ohio Athletic Conference record.

Inside the Numbers
- Freshman Milayna Williams, sophomore Taylor DeMassimo, and sophomore Abby Jones led the Muskie offense with 11 points each.
- Williams finished the night 3-for-7 (42.9%) from the field and 2-for-5 (40.0%) from behind the arc. She dished out four assists and grabbed five rebounds.
- Jones finished the night 4-for-10 (40.0%) from the field and 2-for-4 (50.0%) from behind the arc. She grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists, and had four steals.
- DeMassimo finished the night grabbing five rebounds, had two steals, and dished out two assists.
- Sophomore Leia Smith finished the night with nine points, seven rebounds, and an assist.
- The Comets were led by Kaylee Cyphers, who had a game-high 13 points.
How it happened
- The Muskies set the tone in the first quarter, going 8-for-17 (47.1%) from the field and 5-for-9 (55.6%) from behind the arc. They led the Comets 22-10 after the opening quarter.
- With 5:08 in the remaining half, Capital cut the Muskie lead down to six, but the Muskies would go on a 13-point surge to extend their lead 39-26 going into the break.
- In the opening minutes of the third quarter, the Muskies would hit two triples from Williams and DeMassimo to extend to their biggest lead of the night of 16 points.
- With 2:11 remaining in the contest, the Comets drew within seven of the Muskies, but Leia Smith's free throws sealed the Muskie win, making it the final, 68-59.
- Muskingum forced 23 Comet turnovers and converted them into a 33-14 advantage on points-off-turnovers.
