Softball drops OAC Tournament Game versus Mount Union 

The #4 Muskingum softball team fell in its opening game of the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament against #1 Mount Union, 6-1 Thursday afternoon. 

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (26-13), Mount Union (33-8)
  • Location: 23rd Street Softball – Alliance, Ohio

How it Happened

  • Mount Union plated two runs in the first off a Muskie throwing error to take an early, 2-0 lead. 
  • The Purple Raiders added another run in the fourth and tacked on three more in the fifth to make it, 6-0.
  • Muskingum scored its lone run in the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough as Mount Union secured the 6-1 victory. 

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum scored one run off five hits.
  • Senior Hannah Smith got the start in the circle for Muskingum. Smith tossed 4.2 innings and gave up five earned runs.
  • Muskingum was led by freshman Cara Taylor who finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.
  • Seniors Haley Hawk, Sarah Piteo, and Carlee Lamacz tallied one hit apiece to pace the Muskie offense.
