Eight Muskies highlight All-OAC selections for Softball

The Ohio Athletic Conference has named senior infielder Karsyn Shaffer and senior outfielder Shaena Mayer First Team All-OAC, while senior catcher Francesca Stefano, junior infielder Haley Hawk, junior pitcher Hannah Smith, and senior pitcher Hannah Duff earned Second Team All-OAC honors. Junior infielder Katie Osburn and senior outfielder Bailey Waitkus also earned Honorable Mention All-OAC accolades.

Shaffer captured her second All-OAC honor after leading the Muskies with a .401 batting average and in hits with a career-high 59. She also notched six doubles, two triples, and 21 RBIs, while also grabbing ten stolen bases. Shaffer played every game at second base for Muskingum and recorded a fielding percentage of .964. She was also recently named Division III Third Team All-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Mayer secured her first All-OAC accolade after she was tied second on the team in hits with 44 and earned a .341 batting average. She collected two double, two triples, and eight RBIs. Mayer also led the Muskies and was third in the conference with 18 stolen bases.

Stefano earned her first All-OAC selection after she was third on the team, batting a career-best .388 with career-highs in hits (26), doubles (3), home runs (1), and RBIs (11).

Hawk collected her second All-OAC honors after she finished second on the team batting .396 and was third in hits with 40. She also secured eight doubles, two home runs and led the team in RBIs with 27.

Smith grabbed her second All-OAC accolade after she was second in the conference with a career-high 2.18 ERA. She finished fifth in the conference and was second on the team with 12 wins while also notching a career-high 65 strikeouts. Smith earned OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors twice this season.

Duff captured her first All-OAC honor after she led the team and was fourth in the OAC in wins with a career-best 13. She led Muskingum in the circle with a career-high 77 strikeouts and earned OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades during the 2021 season.

Osburn earned her first All-OAC selection after she finished tied second on the team in hits with a career-best 44. She led the Muskies with a career-high 12 doubles, one triple, and collected a career-best 23 RBIs, which put her second on the team.

Waitkus captured her first All-OAC accolade after she finished the year, hitting .287 with 23 hits, two doubles, a career-best two triples, and 13 RBIs.
