The Muskingum softball team swept #21 Mount Union in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Donna J. Newberry Field. The Muskies won Game 1, 4-1, and Game 2, 4-3.

Inside The Numbers - Game 1
- Junior Hannah Smith started in the circle for the Muskies and pitched all seven innings earning two strikeouts while allowing one run off six hits.
- Senior Karsyn Shaffer guided the Muskie offense with two hits and an RBI.
- Senior Shaena Mayer and junior Haley Hawk each added one hit and one RBI for Muskingum.

The Difference - Game 1
- Mount Union took an early 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning on an Alexis French sacrifice fly to center field.
- Heading into the bottom of the fifth inning down 1-0, the Muskies would capitalize on a four-hit, four-run inning to take a 4-1 lead.

- Senior Hannah Duff got the start in the circle, pitching all seven innings for the Muskies, allowing three runs off eight hits.
- Shaffer guided the Muskie offense with two hits and an RBI.
- Hawk added a hit and RBI to the contest.
- Senior Bailey Waitkus, junior Katie Osburn, and Mayer both chipped in a hit for the Muskies.
- Ally Goldy led the Purple Raider offense with two hits and two RBI's.
- Peyton Morrison pitched a complete game for the Purple Raiders, allowing four runs off six hits.
The Difference - Game 2
- Mount Union scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning off a two-RBI single from Goldy to make it 2-0.
- The Muskies pulled within one run off an RBI triple from Shaffer making it, 2-1. Shaffer would later score in the inning off a wild pitch tying the game 2-2.
- Muskingum took its first lead of the game in the third inning off an RBI single from Hawk to make it 3-2.
- The Muskies extended their lead, 4-2 in the fourth after a double steal from Mayer and Waitkus.
- Mount Union pulled within one run in the fifth inning off a Rose single making it, 4-3.
