Men’s Lacrosse stays unbeaten, tops W&J in tight battle

The Muskingum men's lacrosse team picked up a 10-7 win over Washington & Jefferson to move to 2-0 in 2023.

How it Happened

  • Muskingum jumped on top, outscoring the Presidents 3-2 in the opening quarter.
  • Muskingum continued their momentum into the second period, outscoring W&J 5-2 in the frame to carry an 8-4 lead into halftime.
  • Out of the break, both teams played an even third quarter, only scoring one goal apiece.
  • Washington & Jefferson outscored the Muskies 2-1 in the fourth quarter, but Muskingum's early lead proved crucial as they hung on for the 10-7 win.

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum was led by senior Maxwell Pezzot who tallied a game-high three goals and two assists.
  • Junior Spencer Zecchini notched one goal and seven ground balls, while junior Chase Kesler finished with one goal and four ground balls.
  • Freshman Nick Cannon also tallied a goal for Muskingum and he scooped up six ground balls, while sophomore Drew Schneider chipped in a goal and finished with a game-high 10 ground balls.
