Baseball stumbles at Ohio Wesleyan

The Muskingum baseball team dropped a road non-conference contest to Ohio Wesleyan on Monday afternoon. 

The Basics

The Difference

  • Muskingum tallied their first run of the contest in the third inning off an RBI single from junior Dominic Gorence. Junior Wyatt Reeder scored on the single from Gorence.
  • Muskingum got on the board again in the eighth inning via an RBI single from sophomore Weston Melick. The RBI was Melick's 23rd of the season, and he scored sophomore Austin Lippolis.

  • The Muskies were led by senior Dominic Gorence who finished 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI.
  • Sophomore Weston Melick tallied a 1-for-4 line with an RBI, while sophomore Austin Lippolis finished 1-for-1 with a run scored.
  • Junior Wyatt Reeder notched a 1-for-3 line with a run scored, while freshman Sam Palmieri notched a 1-for-4 line on the day.
  • Ohio Wesleyan was led by Dillon Ysseldyke who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
  • Freshman Lane Goetz got the start on the mound for Muskingum. Goetz tossed four innings, gave up one earned run, and struck out three batters on the day.
  • Freshman Nathan Johnson and sophomore Brock Pfister both pitched in relief for Muskingum as well.
