Bullpen leads Muskingum to fourth win in five games

Behind a stellar outing from freshman Max Vosters, the Muskingum baseball team tallied a 7-4 win over Pitt.-Greensburg to move to 12-4 on the season.

The Basics

Notables

  • Freshman Max Vosters tossed six innings in relief to earn the win out of the Muskingum bullpen. Vosters moves to 2-0 on the season after giving up one run against the Bobcats on Thursday.

The Difference

  • After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, Muskingum answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Junior Quinten Collins and sophomore Tobie Teke both tallied RBI singles to get Muskingum on the board.
  • Muskingum tied the game in the third inning off an RBI single from junior Wyatt Reeder.
  • The Muskies took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning when Collins hit an RBI groundout to second base scoring junior Nate Keiser.
  • The Muskies kept the momentum rolling, tallying three more runs in the frame to push their lead to 7-3.
  • The Bobcats scored another run in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as Muskingum secured the 7-4 victory. 

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum was led by sophomore Weston Melick who finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
  • Junior Nate Keiser finished 2-for-4 as well, while also adding one run scored.
  • Sophomore Travis Reynolds tallied a 1-for-4 line with one run scored and an RBI, while junior Quinten Collins went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
  • Junior Ryan Schwartz also finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while junior Gavin Hawk tallied one hit and one RBI.
  • Freshman Lane Goetz got the start on the mound for Muskingum. Goetz tossed one inning and gave up one earned run for the Muskies.
  • Freshman Max Vosters pitched six innings in relief for the Muskies. Vosters only gave up one run and struck out two Bobcats to earn his second win of the season.
  • Freshman Nathan Johnson closed out the win by tossing two scoreless innings and picking up his second save of the season for Muskingum.
  • Pitt.-Greensburg was led by Colin Solinski who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
