Baseball falls at #9 Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum baseball team dropped a pair of games to ninth-ranked Baldwin Wallace. The Muskies lost game one 7-1 and game two 8-1.

Game 1

The Basics

  • Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning off an RBI double from Alex Ludwick.
  • The Muskies answered back in the top of the third inning with a solo home run from senior Trey Yoder to tie the game at one apiece.
  • Baldwin Wallace added another run in the fourth off a fielder's choice to take a 2-1 lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets wouldn't surrender the lead again for the rest of the game, and they secured their 7-1 victory.

  • The Muskies were led by senior Trey Yoder who finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run.
  • Junior Dominic Gorence went 2-for-4 with two singles, and senior Chayce Lundell finished 1-for-4 with a single.
  • Senior Jake Norris started on the mound for the Muskies. Norris pitched five innings, surrendered three earned runs, and struck out four batters.

The Difference

  • The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the second inning off a fielder's choice from Bijan Kamalipour.
  • Baldwin Wallace added three more runs in the third inning to push their lead out to 4-0.
  • The Yellow Jackets scored four more runs in the seventh inning off a grand slam from Luke Vonderhaar to extend their lead to 8-0.
  • The Muskies got on the board in the ninth inning off an RBI single from junior Devin Ryan. However, Baldwin Wallace was able to secure their 8-1 victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by senior Devin Ryan who finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
  • Sophomores Gavin Hawk, Quinten Collins, and Tyler Arter each recorded one hit for the Muskies.
  • Sophomore Erik Cover got the start on the mound for Muskingum. Cover pitched six and one-third innings, and gave up five earned runs.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led by Luke Vonderhaar who finished 2-for-4 with five RBIs and one run scored.
