Women's tennis beats Concordia

The Muskingum women's tennis team beat Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday, 6-3, and slipped against Ohio Northern, 9-0.

With the split, the Muskies now stand at 3-4 overall and will conclude its fall season at Marietta on Tuesday, October 5. The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Against Concordia, the Muskies jumped out to a 2-1 lead after claiming wins at second and third doubles. Freshman Scarlett Martell and junior Evelyn Pauquette won 8-3 in second doubles against Anna Leeper and Sloane Dietz. Junior Emma Bachman and junior Jane Boyer won a 9-7 thriller at third doubles against Payton Woodruff and Cloe Smith.

The Muskies secured the win with victories at second, third, fifth, and sixth singles. Martell won 8-5 at second singles against Dietz, and Pauquette won 8-6 at third singles against Hollie Johnson. Boyer won 8-4 at fifth singles against Jadyn Hackman, and junior Kaylee Anstaett rounded out the Muskie winning effort with an 8-2 win at sixth singles against Natalie Waske.

Against the Polar Bears, Ohio Northern grabbed the early momentum with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action. The Polar Bears completed the win by sweeping singles action too.
