Women's Tennis earns Coach Barrett her first career victory

The Muskingum women's tennis team earned their first victory of the 2019 season and a first career win for Head Coach Bridget Barrett as they beat Waynesburg, 5-4 on Saturday. 

Waynesburg swept doubles play to jump out to an early 3-0 lead over Muskingum. The Muskies retaliated with victories in five-of-six singles matches to secure their first victory of the season. This victory marked the first win for the Muskingum women's tennis team since 2016.

Junior Kayla Hall led the charge with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Madison Trent in second singles. Sophomore Sara Welsh recorded a 6-3, 3-6 (10-4) triumph over Noelle Hughes in third singles. Freshmen Evelyn Pauquette, Emma Bachman, and McKinzie Buckmaster secured their first collegiate wins at fourth, fifth, and sixth singles. Pauquette defeated Lauren Wadsworth 6-0, 6-2. Bauchman conquered Abby Walbrown 0-6, 7-5 (10-4), while Buckmaster dominated Katie Fresch 6-4, 6-0. 

The Muskies next battle Miami-Hamilton on Sunday, September 22. Start time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
