Wrestling places 12th at Ohio Northern Invitational

The Muskingum wrestling team placed 12th at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Saturday.

The Muskies were paced on the mat by freshman Carter Layton, freshman Tanner Donathan, and junior Garrett Mitchel.

Layton went 3-2 on the day in the 174-pound weight class. He earned a medical forfeit against Nick Miller of Trine and registered a fall at the 40-second mark against Conner Boal of Lycoming. Layton garnered a forfeit win against Sam Shalvey to round out his performance.

Donathan posted a 2-2 record in the 149-pound class. He notched a 15-4 major decision against Cameron Poulton of Ohio Northern and had a forfeit win against Joseph Muzzin of Alma.

Mitchel went 2-2 in the heavyweight division. He recorded a fall against fellow freshman Muskie Grant Schafer at the 2:59 mark and had a fall against Austin Popp of Alma at the 2:55 mark.

Muskingum next competes at the Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday, January 4.
