Wrestling competes at Messiah Tournament

The Muskingum wrestling team placed 8th in the 15-team field at the Messiah Tournament two-day event held at Brubaker Auditorium on Friday-Saturday. The Muskies ended the event with five top 10 finishes.

The Basics

  • Location: Grantham, Pennsylvania
  • Finish: Muskingum scored 63 points to place eighth.

On the Mat

  • Jordan Burkholder claimed fourth-place in the 125-pound weight class after going 4-2. He lost the 9-5 major decision to Ursinus's Chris Tan in his final round.
  • Sammy Southerns placed fifth in the 141-pound weight class after picking up the 15-4 major decision over Messiah's Matt Darok. He registered a 5-2 record on the day.
  • Toby Warrington fell 10-3 to Messiah's Lee Castle to finish in sixth-place. He ended the day with a 4-3 mark.
  • Tanner Walker and Garrett Mitchell each tallied eighth-place finishes in the 165-pound and 285-pound bracket, respectively.
