The Muskingum softball team fell to Mount Union in the OAC Tournament semifinal on Sunday afternoon, 3-0.

• The game featured a rematch of game one of the OAC Tournament featuring #2 Muskingum and the #3 Mount Union Purple Raiders.
• The Muskies defeated the #4 seed Otterbein Cardinals in a win-or-go-home matchup on Saturday, May 7, to advance to the semifinal.
• Following the conclusion of the tournament, senior pitcher Hannah Smith and sophomore outfielder Kalie Eshelman were named to the all-tournament team.
• Muskingum currently sits at 31-12 overall and will look to advance to the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid when they are announced on Monday, May 9.

How it Happened

• In the second, Muskingum looked to plate the first run of the contest with a runner on second, but a strikeout ended the early threat.
• With two outs in the top of the third, back-to-back doubles from a Payton Guspyt and Alyssa Rose gave Mount Union a 3-0 advantage.

Inside the Numbers

• Senior Hannah Smith tossed three innings and allowed three runs on three hits. Smith registered three strikeouts.
• Sophomore Madelyn Thomas tossed the final four innings, allowing four hits, and tallying three strikeouts.
• Sophomore Kalie Eshelman led Muskingum, going 1-for-3 with a single.
• Peyton Guspyt led Mount Union, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
