The Muskingum softball team defeated Mount Union in walk-off fashion on Thursday evening. The Muskies won the opener 5-4 and the nightcap 10-9.

Game One

How it Happened

  • The Purple Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning.
  • Muskingum plated their first run off a Gallentine ground out to second.
  • A Peyton Guspyt double down the third base line extended the Purple Raider lead 6-1.
  • A Boggs RBI single up the middle cut down the Mount Union lead 6-2.
  • The Purple Raider score increased 7-2 in the fifth off a sacrifice fly from Adri George.
  • The Muskies trimmed the lead down to two in the fifth scoring three runs off RBIs from Osburn and Piteo.
  • Mount Union would get the lead back up to three in the sixth off an Alyssa Rose triple.
  • A three-run, three-hit sixth inning from the Muskies saw the ballgame tied at eight heading to the seventh.
  • Mount Union reclaimed the lead taking 9-8 lead in the top half of the seventh.
