The Muskingum softball team split a pair of games versus OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace to open conference play. The Muskies won the opener 3-1 and dropped game two 6-3.
Game 1
The Basics
- Records: Muskingum (14-4 Overall, 1-0 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (4-13 Overall, 1-2 OAC)
- Location: Donna J. Newberry Field – New Concord, Ohio
Inside the Numbers
- Muskingum scored three runs off five hits.
- Sophomore Madelyn Thomas pitched a dominating seven innings, striking out eight batters, and only gave up one run. Thomas improved to 7-1 on the season.
- Sophomore Kalie Eshelman led the Muskie offense with a hit and two RBIs.
- Junior Claire Warschauer added a hit and chipped in an RBI to pace the Muskie bats.
- Senior Katie Osburn, sophomore Autumn Chorba, and junior Carlee Lamacz finished with one hit apiece.
- Julia Gersey led the Baldwin Wallace offense with two hits and an RBI.
The Difference
- Muskingum plated all three of their runs in the second inning.
- An Eshelman two-RBI single up the middle gave Muskingum a quick 2-0 lead.
- A Warshauer RBI single to left-center plated the Muskies final run of the game, they led Baldwin Wallace 3-0 after two innings of play.
- The Yellow Jackets plated their lone run in the sixth off a Gersey RBI single to left field.
- Muskingum secured a 3-1 victory.

- Location: Donna J. Newberry Field – New Concord, Ohio
Inside the Numbers
- Muskingum scored three runs off four hits.
- Senior Haley Hawk led the Muskies going 2-for-3 at the plate, with two RBIs.
- Eshelman added two hits and an RBI to round out the Muskie scoring efforts.
- Baldwin Wallace was led by Emily Mau who finished 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
The Difference
- The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning off a double from Ashley Matousek.
- Baldwin Wallace plated two more runs in the second off an Emily Mau double to left-center.
- Baldwin Wallace took advantage of two Muskingum fielding errors to plate two more runs in the fourth giving them a 5-0 advantage.
- The Muskies plated two runs in the sixth off a Hawk single to right field, trimming the Yellow Jacket lead 5-2.
- Baldwin Wallace plated their final run of the game in the seventh off a Sara Frederickson single up the middle.
- Muskingum was only able to score one run in the seventh off an Eshelman double to left field. They dropped game two, 6-3.

- Muskingum returns to action on Tuesday, April 5, when they travel to take on John Carroll in Ohio Athletic Conference action. Game one is set for 3:00 p.m., with game two to follow.
