Men's tennis battles Washington & Jefferson

The Muskingum men's tennis team opened its fall season at Washington & Jefferson on Friday. The Muskies fell against the Presidents, 6-3.

W&J grabbed the early momentum in doubles play by capturing wins at first and second. The Muskie senior tandem of Micah Keith and Caleb Patton secured an 8-3 win at third doubles against Eric Kmett and Derek Bedillion to trim the Muskingum deficit to 2-1.

In singles action, Patton claimed a 7-6, 6-2 win at fifth singles against Eric Kmett, and junior Vincent Lobinger beat Derek Bedillion at sixth singles 6-2, 6-2. However, the Presidents clinched the match with wins at first, second, third and fourth singles.

Muskingum returns to action on Saturday, September 15, at Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Muskies play Mount Vernon at 10:00 a.m. and Concordia (Mich.) at 1:00 p.m.
