Men’s Lacrosse dominates Wilmington for OAC win

The Muskingum men's lacrosse team dominated Wilmington on Wednesday night, winning the contest 20-1.

How it Happened

  • The Muskies hit the ground running to start the game, grabbing a quick 5-0 lead after the first quarter.
  • Muskingum continued their dominate play into the second quarter, outscoring the Quakers 6-1 in the period. Muskingum held an 11-1 advantage at halftime.
  • Muskingum's stifling defense wouldn't allow another goal for the remainder of the contest. The Muskies added six more goals in the third quarter, and three in the fourth quarter to secure their 20-1 victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by sophomore Spencer Zecchini who tallied six goals on the night. Zecchini also registered three ground balls and dished out one assist.
  • Junior Maxwell Pezzot and sophomore Grant Webster both tallied three goals each. Pezzot added two assists and one ground ball, while Webster had one assist and one ground ball.
  • Junior Michael Honeycutt and sophomore Jack Watts both found the back of the net twice for the Muskies. Watts also recorded an assist as well.
  • Senior Hazen Powell, junior Griffin Holiga, sophomore Hunter McGuire, and freshman Drew Schneider all scored one goal each for Muskingum. Schneider also tallied a team high-tying six ground balls.
  • Freshman Jackson D'Amico also had six ground balls, while sophomore Chase Kesler and freshman Isac Soto both tallied two saves in net.
  • Muskingum outshot Wilmington 68-19 on the game. 34 of the Muskies' shots were on goal, compared to six for the Quakers.
  • Muskingum won 19-of-24 face offs, and the Muskies were also successful on 30-of-34 clears on the night.
