Men’s Basketball routs Redhawks in Home Opener

Muskingum Men's Basketball defeated La Roche 94-67 in their Home Opener in the Steele Center. Junior Owen Emig led the Muskies with 20 points.

Noteables

  • Before the game, Senior Duane Davis was recognized for being the 33rd Muskingum Men's Basketball player to eclipse the 1,000 point mark. Davis hit this feat in the OAC semifinal game last year against John Carroll.
  • Muskingum is 4-0, off to its best start since the 2016-17 season. 
  • Muskingum scored 94 points, the most in regulation of a game since 2021, when Muskingum scored 109 points against John Carroll. 

Inside the Numbers

  • Junior Owen Emig led the Muskies with 20 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Emig shot 5-10 from three-point range and 5-5 from the free throw line. 
  • Senior Duane Davis added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
  • Sophomore Alieu Ceesay, Sophomore Terrell Darden, and Freshman Nemiah Waugh each tallied 8 points apiece. Ceesay added 4 rebounds. Darden added 2 rebounds. 
  • Freshman J'Allen Barrino had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists for Mukingum.
  • As a team, Muskingum shot 33-76 from the field, 11-30 from three, and 17-25 from the free throw line. Muskingum logged 28 total rebounds, 17 offensive, 17 assists, 10 steals, and 3 blocks.
  • Major Rainey led La Roche with 13 points.
  • Bryce Epps added 12 points for the Redhawks.
